What services do you offer?

Is a resharpened tool the same quality as an original?

Yes, we use the highest quality grinding wheels, equipment, and calibrated tooling to assure the resharpened tool performs identically to its factory specifications. We strive to provide the required angles, reliefs, and clearance to maximize the tool's cutting efficiency.

What is your standard tool lead time?

Our goal is to pick up and deliver tools in 3-4 weeks. If a customer has an issue or emergency situation, we will make every effort to meet your scheduling requirement.

Are there additional charges in the event of an expedited delivery request?

Normally we do not add any additional charge for an emergency or expedited tool request. We understand that occasional demand for a specific set of cutting tools may need to be expedited within our normal turnaround time. We are continually striving to improve and reduce our turnaround time, especially today with the high cost of certain carbide and HSS cutters.

What is a recondition or cutoff charge?

Reconditioning (cutting and facing) is performed if a tool is damaged and needs more extensive preparatory work than the standard resharpening. The most common recondition charge is cutting off the end of a broken end mill and regrinding or reworking the cutter's flutes.

Custom Cutter and Tool Grinding Charges:

At DPG we have a lot of customers that have a requirement or have developed special grinding specifications for their tooling. This can include slightly increasing or decreasing the primary or secondary relief angle or adding a specific length of cut requirements, etc. These are done normally at no charge to our customers. In most cases, procedures or work instructions are completed in order to assure adherence to the customer's requirements. These are also done at no additional charge.
